While this story is about a year old I still like reading up on juicy gossip form the past that slipped past me. Apparently there was more then just controversy surrounding Rihanna’s single “S&M” from last year. First, the U.K. censored a handful of the lyrics and changed the title to “Come On”; then the song’s video was banned in 11 countries; and as of February last year celebrity photographer David LaChapelle claimed that the highly-hued video is a direct copy of his stylistic imagery from many of his photo shoots.

LaChapelle, who has worked with Rihanna in the past on various photo shoots, was pretty pissed when we saw the video. He tweeted to both Rihanna and Perez Hilton (who appears at the end of RiRi’s leash in the vid), “The next time you make a David LaChapelle video you should probably hire David LaChapelle.” (The tweet has since been removed.)

So what dod you do when someone steals your shizz? You Sue! In the LaChapelle lawsuit, his attorneys claimed that “the music video was directly derived from and substantially similar to the David’s works” in regards to the “composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting”.
